title: "Mass Edit"
description: "Apply the same change to hundreds of channels at once: categories, bouquets, servers, on demand, proxy, crown and more."
---

You need to move 300 channels to a new server, add a whole category to a bouquet, or turn on Turbo for every sports channel. Opening each channel one by one takes hours. **Mass Edit** applies one change to every channel you select, in a single save.

Movies, series, episodes and clients have their own Mass Edit pages with the same idea. This page covers channels.

## How it works

The page has four tabs:

- **STREAMS**: pick the channels.
- **INFORMATION**: categories, bouquets and channel options.
- **RESTART SCHEDULED**: **Days to Restart** and **Time to Restart**.
- **SERVERS**: **Server Tree**, **On Demand**, **Turbo On Demand** and **Re/Start Stream Now at saving**.

Every field has a checkbox next to it. **Only the fields you tick are changed.** A field you leave unticked stays as it is on each channel, even if you typed a value in it.

## Step 1: Select the channels

1. Open **Channels** > **Bulk Tools** > **Mass Edit**.
2. In the **STREAMS** tab, narrow the list with the filters:
   - **Search Streams...** by name.
   - **All Servers**, or **Without Servers Assigned**.
   - **All Categories**, or **Without Categories Associated**.
   - A status filter: **● Online**, **● Down**, **● Stopped**, **● Starting**, **● On Demand**, **● Direct**, **● Timeshift**, **● Created Channel**, **● Streams With Interruptions** or **● Without Sources**.
3. Click the rows you want, or click **Toggle Selection** to select every row in the list.

## Step 2: Choose what to change

1. Open the tab with the field you want to change.
2. Tick the checkbox next to the field. The field becomes editable.
3. Set the new value.

Fields in **INFORMATION**:

| Field | Note |
|---|---|
| **Category Name** | Replaces the categories of each selected channel. |
| **Select Bouquets** | Replaces the bouquets of each selected channel. It does not add to the current ones. |
| **Generate PTS**, **Native Frames**, **Stream All Codecs** | Same as in the channel editor. |
| **Direct Source** | Clients go straight to the original source. |
| **Is An Event Channel ?** | See [Mark Channels as an Event](/docs/mark-channels-as-an-event). |
| **Default Quality Preference**, **Minute Delay**, **Transcoding Profile** | Same as in the channel editor. |
| **Stream Proxy** | Includes **Rotating (all proxies)** when all servers support it. See [Stream Proxies](/docs/stream-proxies). |
| **Preferred Source** | The crown, in bulk (engine 2.5.0). See below. |

## Step 3: Save

1. If the change needs the channels to reload, for example new servers, turn on **Re/Start Stream Now at saving** in the **SERVERS** tab.
2. Click **Edit Streams**.

> [!WARNING]
> Restarting hundreds of channels at the same time causes a CPU and network spike on your servers. For large lists, work in smaller batches.

## Crown many channels (engine 2.5.0)

With engine 2.5.0 on your main server, the **Preferred Source** field sets the crown of every selected channel:

- **Crown the first primary source**: crowns the first primary source and replaces any crown the channel had.
- **Crown the first primary source, only on channels without a crown**: keeps the crowns you already set.
- **Remove the crown**.

No restart is needed. Channels using another source go back to the crowned one on their own in a couple of minutes, while the automatic return is on in Settings. Channels without primary sources stay without a crown. See [Preferred Source](/docs/preferred-source).

## Mass Delete

To delete many channels, use **Channels** > **Bulk Tools** > **Mass Delete**. Deleting cannot be undone. Filter carefully and check the selection before you confirm.

## Tips

- **Filter first, select after.** Narrow the list until it shows exactly what you want, then use **Toggle Selection**.
- **Test on one channel first.** If the change is unusual, apply it to a single channel and check the result before you run it on hundreds.
- **Bouquets are replaced, not added.** To add one bouquet without losing the others, include the current bouquets in your selection.

## Common problems

- **I saved and nothing changed**: you did not tick the checkbox next to the field. Values without a tick are ignored.
- **The channels lost their other bouquets**: Mass Edit replaces the bouquet list. Edit again and select every bouquet the channels should have.
- **"A previous mass edit is still being applied in the background"**: a large edit is still running. Wait a moment and try again.
- **The Preferred Source field is missing**: your main server is not on engine 2.5.0 yet. See [Update the Engine](/docs/update-the-engine).
