Primary Sources vs Secondary Sources
Understanding Source Prioritization in Xtream AI
Xtream AI Streaming Engine includes advanced handling of multiple stream sources per channel to ensure maximum uptime and fault tolerance. This is accomplished through the use of Primary and Secondary sources.
Correctly configuring these sources allows your channels to remain stable and uninterrupted, even in cases of stream failure or server overload.
What Are Primary Sources?
Primary sources are the main, preferred streams associated with a channel. These are the sources Xtream AI will always attempt to use first when serving content to your users.
Key Characteristics:
Highest priority in the source list
Always attempted before any secondary streams
Ideal for stable and high-quality streaming sources
If all primary sources are working correctly, Xtream AI will not touch the secondary ones.
What Are Secondary Sources?
Secondary sources act as a fallback mechanism. They are only used if all primary sources fail.
Key Characteristics:
Only used if no primary sources are working
Useful for redundancy and backup routing
How Xtream AI Handles Failover
Xtream AI continuously monitors the health of each stream source. If a primary source becomes unavailable:
It will check for another working primary stream (if multiple are configured).
If none of the primary sources are valid, it will automatically switch to the best available secondary source.
Once a primary source becomes available again, the system will only revert back if the current secondary source stops working
