Without a guide, your clients only see a channel name and an empty grid. With an EPG (Electronic Program Guide), their apps show what is on now and what comes next. Xtream AI gives you a ready-made guide that the AI links to your channels automatically, and you can add your own XMLTV sources for anything it does not cover.
You manage everything in Channels > Guide & Events > EPG.
The fastest way: Automate Your EPG
At the top of the EPG Sources page there are four cards: Total Channels, With Own EPG, With Xtream AI EPG and Automate Your EPG.
- Turn on the switch in Automate Your EPG. The card shows Enabled.
- Wait a few minutes. The panel analyzes your channels and links each one without a guide to the right guide channel, using AI to match by name.
How it chooses:
- It uses the Xtream AI EPG, a free guide maintained by Xtream AI that covers thousands of channels, and also your own sources if you added any.
- A channel that already has a guide from one of your own sources keeps it.
- A channel linked to the Xtream AI EPG moves to one of your sources only if that source has upcoming programs for it.
- It keeps checking, so channels you add or import later get their guide too.
The cards show how many channels are covered by each guide.
Add your own EPG source
Use your own source when a provider gives you a guide, or for channels the Xtream AI EPG does not cover. Xtream AI reads standard XMLTV files: .xml and compressed .xml.gz.
- Click Add EPG Source.
- EPG Name: a name to recognize it, for example "Sports EPG".
- Source URL: the direct URL of the XMLTV file, for example
https://epg.example.com/guide.xml.gz. - Days to Keep: how many days of guide data to keep, from 1 to 30. The default is 7.
- Click Save EPG Source.
The panel downloads and reads the file, then refreshes it on its own.
Source status
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Scanning | The file is being downloaded and read. |
| Ready | The guide data is processed and ready to use. |
| Pending Update | An update was requested and runs on the next cycle. |
| Offline | The URL could not be reached or returned an error. |
| Never Updated | The source has not been processed yet. |
Actions
- Force Update: downloads the file again now. Useful when you know the source changed.
- Edit EPG: change the name, URL or days to keep.
- Delete EPG: removes the source and its program data.
The Xtream AI guide shows as System EPG in the list and cannot be edited.
Link a channel to a guide
The automatic matching covers most channels. To set or change the guide of one channel by hand:
- Open Channels > Overview and edit the channel.
- In the INFORMATION tab, find Link to EPG and make sure its switch is on.
- Narrow the list with the filter next to it:
- All Sources: the Xtream AI EPG plus all your own sources.
- Xtream AI Only: only the Xtream AI EPG.
- Admin EPG Only: only the sources you added.
- Pick the matching guide channel and click SAVE.
When you import channels with Import Channels, each row shows EPG if it will be linked to one of your sources, or EPG auto if the panel will link it to the Xtream AI EPG by name a few minutes after the import.
Common problems
- A source stays Offline: check that the URL opens in a browser, that it does not ask for a login, and that it returns XML and not an error page.
- The source is Ready but a channel shows no programs: the channel is linked to a guide channel that has no programs, or to the wrong one. Pick another in Link to EPG.
- Programs show at the wrong time: the XMLTV file declares its own time zone. Check the times in the source itself.
- Days to Keep is 30 but I only see two days: the source only publishes two days. The panel cannot add more. Use a source with a longer window.
- Automate Your EPG is on but one channel has no guide: the AI did not find a confident match, often because the channel name is unusual or the channel is very niche. Link it by hand, or add a source that covers it.
