What Is Playlist Encryption?

Playlist encryption allows administrators and resellers to generate encrypted M3U8 playlists for their users. This encryption is applied at the time the playlist is created and ensures that:

• User credentials are obfuscated, preventing bots, crawlers, and ISP-level filters from harvesting usernames, passwords, or session tokens.

• Streaming content cannot be easily inspected or intercepted.

• Security is maintained even if a playlist URL is leaked.

The result is a more secure and private streaming experience, minimizing the risk of abuse, restreaming, or credential theft.

How It Works

When encryption is enabled:

1. The system generates a special encrypted version of the user’s M3U8 playlist.

2. This encrypted playlist hides all sensitive query parameters and authentication details.

3. The encrypted URL is only usable by the intended user and cannot be parsed by automated tools or exposed via browser-based inspection.

This protection is especially effective against:

• ISP-level packet sniffing

• Web scrapers and indexing bots

End-to-End Connection Security

In addition to playlist encryption, Xtream AI also encrypts all data transmission between users and load balancer servers by default. This means:
