A customer says the service is slow, or you think one account is shared by many people. Live Connections shows every session that is playing right now: which client, what content, from which IP and with which app. From the same list you can close a session.
For the history of past sessions, see Connections History.
Who can see it
- Administrators with the View Live Connections permission.
- Resellers whose group has Can View Live Connections. They only see their own clients and the clients of their direct sub-resellers. See Member Groups.
Open the list
- In the menu, open Clients > Live Connections.
- Each row is one session. The columns are Status, Username, Stream (the channel, movie or episode), User Agent (the app), Time (how long it has been playing), IP and Country. Administrators also see the Server that delivers the session.
- Hover over an IP to see its country, city and ISP.
The list refreshes by itself every few seconds. Click Auto-Refresh to stop it while you study a row. The button changes to Manual Mode. Click it again to resume.
Find a client or a channel
- Type a username, an IP or a channel name in Search Logs....
- Administrators can choose one server in the filter next to the search box. All Servers shows everything.
- From a client page, click View → next to Active Connections to open the list for that client only.
Click the broom button at the top right to clear the search.
Close sessions
- One session: click Kill Connection (the hammer icon) on the row. Only that device stops. The other devices of the client keep playing.
- All the sessions of a client: in Clients > Overview, click Kill Connections on the row of the client.
Closing a session does not block the client. If the line is still enabled, the app connects again in a few seconds. To stop a customer, first Disable or Ban the client, then close the sessions. See Edit a Client.
Typical uses
- You changed a password: close all the sessions of the client so every device must log in again.
- A client has more devices than allowed: count their rows. Close the extra sessions if needed.
- One channel is frozen for everyone: search the channel name to see who is watching it.
- A customer cannot connect and has no rows: there is nothing to close. The problem is on their side: the app, the network or the credentials.
Common problems
- A session is still in the list after you closed it: wait for the next refresh.
- It comes back with a new row: the app reconnected. Disable the client first.
- The list is empty: nobody is watching right now, or a filter hides the rows. Clear the search and choose All Servers.
- Live Connections is missing from your menu (reseller): your group does not have Can View Live Connections.
